A Mediterranean project for migrant integration

Source: CARDET

A project proposal for the development of a multilevel network in the Mediterranean Region for organizations and public bodies working for immigrant integration in Europe will be submitted to the Cyprus Ministry of Interior by the Center for the Advancement of Research and Development in Educational Technology (CARDET, focal point of Social Watch in that country).

The objective of the network will be the sharing of knowledge, experiences and practices related to migrant integration in local societies. Through this sharing and exchange of best practices, all participants will benefit, according to CARDET, which is seeking support among other NGOs of the region.

The project will include a kick off meeting in Cyprus, the development of an online multifunctional platform (social networking, forums, document repository, best practices collection, databases, etcetera), monthly web conferences, policy papers and an international conference to be held in that country.

Candidates for joining the network are public bodies, NGOs, other networks, research centers, universities and other institutions with experience and interest in the integration of migrants in the European Union (EU).

Cardet invited other NGOs of the region to support its initiative by signing a letter to be sent to its executive director, Dr. Charalambos Vrasidas (info@cardet.org), by September 26.

CARDET -- an independent, non-profit, non-governmental, research and development organization based in Cyprus with partners around the world -- is becoming one of the leading institutions in the Mediterranean region for research and development in social justice, migration and education.

Its mission is to promote research, innovation, and development, and to inspire next generation education through evidence based practices, cutting edge research, and empowered people.
