Social Watch workshop for Latin America

The Social Watch International Secretariat together with the Centre for Research on Labour and Agrarian Development (CEDLA) in Bolivia co-organized the Social Watch regional workshop for Latin America that took place from 20 to 22 October 2010 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.

The purpose of this event was to strengthen the capacities of the national Social Watch coalitions in relation to the analysis and monitoring of public policies and strengthen relationships among Social Watch members in Latin America. The event also aimed to build a common agenda for advocacy in the region. 

The issues discussed during the workshop included:

- Advocacy spaces and possible global alliances
- The neo and post extractivism
- Tax and climate justice
- Analysis and monitoring of public policies
- Economic, Social and Cultual rights; the instruments of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR)
- MDG monitoring
