Social Watch Philippines: Webinar “An Urgent Call: A People's Vaccine Against COVID-19"

Social Watch Philippines-Alternative Budget Initiative in Health (SWP-ABI Health) is launching the "Mercy Fabros Learning Session Series.”

Social Watch Philippines-Alternative Budget Initiative in Health (SWP-ABI Health) invites you to the first episode tackling a timely public health discourse, “An Urgent Call: A People's Vaccine Against COVID-19" on August 5, Wednesday, (via Zoom).

The pandemic is changing our lives and economies in profound ways. So massive has been the wastage of lives and the devastation caused by COVID-19 to health systems everywhere that humanity's survival has become a top priority concern. Until a vaccine is found, the coronavirus will continue to rule our lives through stringent measures like wearing of face masks and social distancing, even as we grapple to secure our jobs and livelihood and reconstruct our economies. The urgent need for a vaccine was felt from the start of the pandemic and has developed into a race among big names in the pharma industry with backing and heavy financial support by governments of richer countries. But where are the people in all this? Do they, with their lives at stake, have a say at all? These issues will be the subject of discussion during the webinar.
